Anup Anand, founder of Pious Earth, has revolutionized waste management in India by innovating a waste-to-animal-feed technology. The innovative machine can convert food leftovers and organic waste into nutritious animal feed, reducing landfill waste, preventing environmental hazards, and promoting sustainable farming practices. The technology has received widespread recognition, including Bihar Startup Awards and funding milestones. Pious Earth also integrates poor and needy women into its operations, offering them a steady income and a pathway to improved livelihoods. The company plans to scale the model globally, starting with pilot projects in Europe, reducing organic waste by 70-80% within 12 hours. Pious Earth's mission is to make cities cleaner and improve Bihar's Swachh Survekshan ranking, setting a benchmark for innovation and sustainability. 

A Visionary Start

Our journey began with the idea of creating a cleaner environment while generating economic opportunities for the needy. Armed with over a decade of experience, we developed a patented waste-to-animal-feed technology that reduces organic waste by 70-80% within just 12 hours. This breakthrough technology has the potential to mitigate environmental hazards while promoting a circular economy.

In 2023, our efforts were recognized when our project was selected by the Bihar Startup Initiative. We received a grant of ₹4 lakhs in the first tranche, which helped us refine our innovative waste processing machine with a capacity of 1 ton per hour. This machine has become the cornerstone of our success, enabling us to provide instant, efficient, and eco-friendly waste management solutions.

 Government Recognition:

1. Received multiple awards, including acknowledgment from the Industry Department of Bihar and startup awards for innovation.
2. Secured encouragement certificates from various municipal and government bodies.

Technological Innovation:

1. Developed a game-changing machine that converts food leftovers into high-quality compost / animal feed within hours.
2. Introduced a system to integrate waste segregation, processing, and recycling in urban areas.

Collaborations:

1. Partnered with Jeevika groups to empower women by creating job opportunities in waste management.
2. Collaborated with municipal corporations like Barh Nagar Parishad and Patna Municipal Corporation to pilot waste reduction projects. 

Social Impact:

1. Created employment opportunities for hundreds of needy individuals, especially women, through our waste processing units.
2. Integrated Swachhagrahi teams to ensure a clean and healthy environment in urban areas.

Making an Environmental and Socioeconomic Impact

Our integrated waste management model, under the PPP DBOT (Design, Build, Operate, Transfer) mode, addresses not only the environmental crisis but also the socioeconomic needs of the community. By converting waste into animal feed and other reusable products, we reduce landfill dependence, minimize greenhouse gas emissions, and generate revenue streams for municipal corporations.

Our efforts have already begun to transform cities in Bihar, and our vision is to expand nationally and internationally. Through our projects, we aim to elevate Bihar’s cities into the top rankings of Swachh Survekshan, setting benchmarks for urban cleanliness and sustainability.
